On April 5, 2013 it was announced that Gretna High School received a $70,321.00 grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the “Courtyard and Garden: An Educational Immersion” project. The Nebraska Legislature created the Nebraska Environmental Trust in 1992. Using revenue from the Nebraska Lottery, the Trust has provided over $195 million in grants to over 1,500 projects across the state. The Nebraska Environmental Trust works to preserve, protect and restore our natural resources for future generations.

Other supporters of the Gretna Outdoor Classroom are Nebraska Alliance for Conservation and Environment Education (NACEE), $3,000.00; Papio Natural Resources District (P-NRD) $1000. 00; and the Gretna High School Science Club.
