Gretna, NE – The Gretna High School Journalism Program was honored with two prestigious Cornhusker Awards at the annual Nebraska High School Press Association (NHSPA) Convention, held on October 21 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Cornhusker Award is the highest recognition given by the NHSPA, and Gretna earned this distinction for its online publication, Dragons' Tale, and its yearbook, The Dragon.

The Cornhusker Awards are selected by independent judges who carefully review all submitted publications based on a specific classification system. Winning this award reflects the dedication, creativity, and hard work of the student journalists involved in producing these exceptional publications.

By securing two Cornhusker Awards, the Gretna Journalism Program also earned an All-Nebraska Award from the NHSPA. This additional recognition is given to scholastic journalism programs whose publications earn two or more Cornhusker Awards in a single academic year.

More than 700 students from schools across Nebraska attended the convention, which celebrates excellence in student journalism and offers opportunities for learning and growth in the field. Gretna High School's achievements highlight the strength of its journalism program and the talent of its students.
