Gretna Public Schools is excited to announce the hiring of Anne Doerr as the district’s new Director of Special Programs. Ms. Doerr will officially begin her role with the district in January 2026. 

Ms. Doerr brings more than two decades of experience in public education, with a strong background in educational leadership and student services. She most recently served as Executive Director of Student Services for Elkhorn Public Schools, where she oversaw special education programming, student supports, and districtwide compliance efforts.


Superintendent Travis Lightle said, “We are pleased to welcome Ms. Doerr and the extensive experience she brings to our district. She is a strong collaborator and communicator who will help us further develop critical systems affected by our growth, including programs for English Language Learners and High Ability Learners. Her expertise will be instrumental in sustaining our momentum and moving the district forward.”


Throughout her career, Ms. Doerr held a variety of leadership roles, including Director of Student Services and Elementary Principal. Her professional background reflects a strong commitment to collaboration, inclusive practices, and ensuring students receive supports necessary for success. She holds advanced degrees in educational administration and maintains multiple professional certifications, including Superintendent and principal endorsements.


As Director of Special Programs, Ms. Doerr will focus on enhancing services for families and students, supporting staff, and ensuring programs align with district goals while meeting the diverse needs of all learners.
